Hannah Hedberg is a middle school teacher at Wildlands Charter School and the Director of the Augusta Performing Arts Club through the Augusta School District. In her ninth year of education, Hannah is passionate about project-based learning and creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and discover their strengths outside of traditional classroom settings.

Hannah’s love of theatre began as a child through performances with the Duluth Playhouse and grew through choir and dance. She has directed 14 productions through the Augusta Performing Arts Club, including middle and high school musicals and summer theatre camps. She has also worked with the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild as an assistant director, choreographer, costume designer, and most recently, director of Beetlejuice Jr. In recent years, she has returned to performing, challenging herself to grow as an actress and better understand the artists she leads. Hannah’s favorite directing experience was Hadestown: Teen Edition, where she loved watching her students take on a challenging and powerful story, build it from the ground up, and ultimately make it their own.

Hannah believes theatre is about more than the performance—it is about the connections, growth, and sense of belonging that come from creating something together. She has seen firsthand how the arts can impact people’s lives and hopes to create a welcoming, collaborative space where everyone—from first-time participants to experienced artists—can find a place to belong, grow, and be part of something meaningful.

Hannah is excited to serve on the board of River Theatre Co. because she wants to help create more opportunities for people to experience theatre and strengthen connections between the arts and the broader community. She enjoys taking on challenging projects and finding creative solutions to turn big ideas into reality. Above all, she believes relationships come first and that the best things happen when people come together around a common goal.

Theatre has also given Hannah one of her favorite stories to tell. She met her fiancé while performing in CVTG’s The SpongeBob Musical, where she played Gary the Snail and he played Patrick Star. They are getting married in June, and she loves that theatre will always be a part of their story.
